AASAI supports Sevalaya to provide education opportunities for underprivileged children since 2007. AASAI provides total support including education and complete living for 20 orphan children. It costs Indian Rupees 6,000 ($150) to support one child annually. Total annual cost to support 20 children is Indian Rupees 120,000 ($3,000).Sevalaya runs a high school for about 1,000 students, an orphanage for about 120 boys and girls, an old age home for about 60 adults, a ghosala (cow farm including taking care of non-milk yielding cows without sending them to butcher shop) and a gobar gas (bio-fuel) plant. These activities are located on a 7 acre campus. All activities (school, orphanage and old age home) are provided free, funded by donations. Sevalaya founded by Mr. Muralidharan and is located near Tiruninravur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. There are about 52 members of staff (teachers and support staff). A noteworthy feature of the organization is the transparency in planning and budgeting/accounts of the activities. A committee of staff and with student representatives prepares the annual budget and is also regularly involved in setting priorities for the institution.
